nautical flags alphabet graphics ♡
these flags say “AHOY” — pair your project with one of the 10 boat & ship graphics in the upcoming float your boats pullover pattern
an autumn olive crochet pattern by autumn olivia ward
written in standard US crochet terms
international maritime flags all have a specific symbol & message; read more about them here:
https://www.marinareservation.com/articles/nautical-flag-meanings/
these flags are made in half double crochet, each are 12 stitches by 8 rows so you could fit quite a few as colorwork onto some of my base patterns such as my oversized pullover, oversized cardigan, pair of vests, & free babydoll dress pattern
if needed: colorwork instructions
you could also make the flags into appliqués to create a banner decoration or sew them onto a jacket for example; for this, start each flag with a chain of 12 and use 1 turning chain at every row
optional: you can use stitch fiddle links to make a copy and copy/paste the flags onto a blank project graph & track your progress [ autumn olive oversized pullover & other base patterns include blank panel graphs to work with ]
you can use any hook & yarn combination that suits your project for these graphs; I used size 4 worsted weight yarn & 5mm hook
make a splash with nautical costumes in the costume sweaters pattern & costume sweaters for pets pattern
you can download this pattern as an ad-free PDF and get a bonus master list with all flag graphs in one chart —
